Joseph “Erap” Estrada, a Filipino actor that has produced over 70 films and acted lead roles in more than 80 films. He was a former president of the Philippines and currently the Mayor of Manila, an incumbent since June 30, 2013. He attended Ateneo de Manila University for his primary education and entered Mapua Institue of Technology for his latter academic pursuits. Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada, founder of the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. commonly known as Mowelfund, a non-profit social welfare and industry development foundation that was established in 1974.

 

Achievements through his acting and political career:

  • In 1981, He was the first FAMAS Hall of Fame recipient for Best Actor
  • He received the Hall of Fame award-winner as a producer in 1983
  • In 1998 to 2001, he served as the 13th President of the Philippines
  • In 1974, he founded the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund)
  • He also founded the first Metro Manila Film Festival with Guillermo de Vega in 1975.
  • Appointed as Chairman of the Committee on Public Works, Vice-Chairman of the Committees on Health, Natural Resources and Ecology and Urban Planning
  • In 1989, the Free Press cited him as one of the Three Outstanding Senators of the year.
